Stranded at the Drive In

drivein2H&M coat (two seasons ago), vintage purse, Italian scarf, Joe Fresh sunglasses, United Colours of Benetton mohair sweater, Everlane Women’s V Muted Black Tee, Gap Boyfriend jeans, Aldo Italy army style boots

Yesterday was a blustery, cold, fall day. Dreary, with Joe showing the first signs of a cold (a definite telltale of back to school). We went for a drive and decided to stop at the old drive-in, where he worked when we were in high school. I couldn’t resist getting some shots with the place. I was able to revel in my fantastically cozy scarf, and Joe was able to surround himself with some nostalgia. It had a haunting, eerie feel that we washed down quickly afterwards with some warm mugs of hot beverages and a hearty meal. However, I couldn’t help but feel that the melancholy, nostalgic mood at the drive-in perfectly echoed my typical autumn feelings. Am I the only one who gets that way this time of year? What mood does fall put you in?

Thank you! Funnily enough, I got it last year on sale at Oysho when I was traipsing around Europe (I got it at one in Milan). They don’t have them in Canada, but I’m sure you’ve seen them around Europe! Maybe they’ll have a new version this coming season?

  1. Is it wrong that I’m obsessed with your nail polish here? It’s pretty summery, and the perfect counterpoint to all the fall-ness going on. What color is it?

I always try to lengthen the summer (if only in my mind) by using my nails. I’m so happy you noticed, too! This is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear colour 405, also known as Coral Reef. It’s a great colour and fairly durable (I’m damn rough on my nails).

Thank you! I couldn’t believe the vintage find. It was ridiculously cheap AND classic!

Love your blog girl! It’s a nice way to keep track of you :). Keep writing!

Ahh where do you buy boots? I’m on the search for the perfect caramel boot but I have such narrow calves that its really tricky to find.

  3. I LOVE fall. I always try to look stylish by layering stuff like you have on this outing, or like in magazines, but my attempts never ever look as good. I love your entire outfit, the idea behind your outing, and all of the photos! So much fun!

Fall always makes me really nostalgic, as well. It always reminds me of my time in England, and, for some odd reason, Scottish Highland Festivals. I always want to read Fantasy books (which is not really one of my favorite genres, and I’m a book snob, so I’ll only read certain types of fantasy…like Harry Potter, or Eragon, or Outlander ), and curl up with lots and lots of coffee 🙂 It’s getting chillier down south here, but not quite cold enough for coats and scarves, yet. I’m looking forward to busting out my tall boots!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels that way about fall. Also, coming from a super Scottish background, ANYtime is good for Highland Festivals…

Where are your tall boots from? I’ve been looking for a pair for a long time that will fit my narrow calves!

      • I got mine from Clarks when I lived in England. They were expensive, but at the time I knew that if tall boots were a passing fad, I’d continue wearing them! Unfortunately, I don’t think Clarks makes them anymore (I just tried looking!) Frye always has great looking boots, but for a pretty penny!
