Bobby Pin Fun

Apologies for the slightly blurred photo - taking awkward selfies with a large camera is not as easy as it sounds.

I have a love/hate relationship with bobby pins. Sometimes they delight me to no end; other times I’m still discovering them halfway through my shower (“Seriously?! How did that end up there?!”). When I found a post on the Free People blog while perusing Pinterest, I decided to try out a new style and see how it fit.

Now, as any good girl, I have an extensive bobby pin collection. Whether they’re ‘good’ or not is another thing entirely; unlike some straight-haired vixens, bobby pins have no issue staying (and staying, and staying) in my hair; the same goes for fingers, bugs, and bits of food. That’s just curl. What I do have issues with, from time to time, is getting the bobby pins to do their job. Namely, getting them to actually hold back the mass of curls.

Which, to be honest, is why this fun look really appealed to me. They didn’t have to serve a purpose, other than to look cool. Like hair art. And since I already consider my hair to be art, this was just icing on the cake.

bobbypins1This look is very simple: to create a chevron, simply place one bobby pin in your hair. Take another and latch it through the end so that they intersect with each other, creating a ‘V’. Do this a few times. You may have to fiddle a bit to get it right, but it’s a cool effect that’s totally worth it. Wear it whenever and get ready for the amazed reactions! Look at you, being all creative!

  1. Wow, you look so cute! =) Like your Bobby Pins =D Unfortunately, I don’t happen to be such a good girl as you, I don’t have such a collection of them, only maybe 5-10 pieces, since I’m always losing them… -.- my hair is just too thin and straight… xD But I love the idea, and maybe I’ll find the right Bobby Pins for my hair someday, and I’ll definitely try this kind of hair art =D

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  2. Once my hair has grown out I will totally try this. I on the other hand like hair pins, on the flip side I have not experienced them in my mass of curls, I will have to see how that plays out when my hair is longer. Love the idea and thanks for sharing.
