One Year Hair Growth!

Like whoa, it’s been a while. Sometimes, life gets in the way….in the past year I’ve moved in with my partner, to a new city, and changed careers to something new and cool and exciting. I’ve changed the way I eat, I’ve changed my workout routine – I’ve changed a whole lot! But I’m still the same cool Jess. Well, I think so, anyway.

So in looking back at photos over a year ago, I realized this is when I big chopped everything. I took off around 7 inches of hair (!!!) and reached points this past year when I thought it would never grow back. Although it was really fun to change it up, I sorely missed having the length multiple times, so I’m back on the regrowth journey. Now, my hair grows SLOWLY, regardless of how healthy I’m eating, how much water I’m drinking, and how much care I’m sending my hair’s way. Granted, I could be better with things like wearing protective styles and making sure straps on my bag aren’t constantly catching my hair, but in general, I’m a slow grower. So, I decided to do a comparison of approximately one year ago (it was a little over a year ago….late May, when I chopped it all off, so let’s say 15 months of growth).

15 months later – slow regrowth!

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long, but it has – and I’ve noticed that I’m the hair type that, the longer it gets, the more shape and definition I have.

Have you ever chopped? How long did it take to regrow? How does your hair act differently from long to short?

  1. oh my goodness! I was just looking at your blog the other day wondering where on Earth you went, ha. Your hair looks fabulous 😀 I actually have been abusing my hair lately (wearing updos for excessive lengths of time, skipping the oil, etc. I even caved and used a shampoo with ‘cones which I think is the thing that made my hair most angry) so I’m considering a big chop. Too scared to do it myself and there’s no one around that can do it. Maybe I’ll try to get healthy new growth then big chop the gross ends later.

Glad to see you’re alive and well!

    • Haha, thank you for commenting! I just did another trim because the ends were looking nasty. I’m fairly certain I need to come up with some sort of protective styling plan for the winter given how fine my hair is and how often it gets tangled in things/caught under my bag straps. Thanks for sending well wishes my way!!
